In 2014 I designed a simple "I Love Franklin Street" t shirt during an art exhibit at the former Winzerwald Winery Tasting Room. I wanted the t shirt to help the new Franklin Street Events Association earn money for showing movies in the park or whatever else they deemed as a fun community activity for children and families. That t shirt is still being sold and continues to bring the organization money. How cool is that?
Last year, a then senior student at Reitz High School, liked that concept and Franklin Street so he decided to create a large 3'-4' sculpture out of cross hatched wire and paint it red. He intended to include locks and keys similar to the 'tokens of love' on bridges in cities like Paris or London, but his would be installed at the base of this sculpture as not to weigh down the already heavy piece.
This t shirt is a nod to his wonderful sculpture and love of community.
